A walking tour of Kanab will allow you to discover the historic homes of Kanab, shop in the unique gift shops, eat at the local restaurants, and enjoy the beautiful scenery and weather of southern Utah.
In about an hour's stroll starting from the visitor center, you can first see the 1891 red sandstone house of bygone cattleman Sixtus Johnson, located on the northeast corner of Main Street and 100 South. On that same corner, visit the Heritage House, followed by a visit to the historic Rider-Pugh house, an eclectic brick Victorian home that once belonged to Kane County probate judge John Rider, and then to Edward Pugh.
Heading west one block, visit the 1906 home built by Charles Robert Pugh. From there, head north on 200 West to the Lewis Jepson home, a building that has served many unique purposes for the city of Kanab and was once the home of Lewis Jepson, who built the first movie house in the town.
On a return to the visitor center, stop by the Bowman & Co. building and the Kanab Hotel on Center Street, between 100 West and Main Street. The H.E. Bowman & Co. building, once a general store, is one of Kanab's oldest buildings, built in 1892. The Kanab Hotel, built in 1929 by Guy Chamberlain, rounds out the walking tour of Kanab.
